This vintage look globe started out as a clear glass rescue from a thrift shop. The decoupaged images were applied to the inside of the jar, then painted over with chalk paint. Metallic gold paint finished the interior, creating an elegant, crackled gold fleck. Air dry clay accents surround the lid, lightly burnished with more gold touches. The entire piece, reminiscent of an antique ginger jar, measures a mere 5-inch diameter and 7-inch height with the lid.

Having semi-retired from professional opticianry, I looked for something to occupy my creative side. I started decoupaging a gallon size pickle jar and was instantly hooked by Mod Podge Mania. Determined to not blow through my retirement savings in one year, I source all of my projects from upcycled and salvaged treasures. This shop is dedicated to all things decoupaged and the philosophy of making something from nothing.
